Twelve Legions of Angels
Matthew 26:53 -
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give
me more than twelve legions of angels?
A legion is
approximately 6,000 soldiers; therefore 12 legions of angels would be 78,000
angels.
II Samuel 24:15
states “So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to
the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba
seventy thousand men.” This
death was over a three-day period (that was cut short).
See II Samuel 24:13 – “So Gad came to David, and told him, and said
unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou
flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be
three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall
return to him that sent me.”
To calculate how
many people 78,000 angels could kill in three days, first calculate how many
people one angel killed in three days.
24
hours in a day.
X
3
days
=
72
hours in three days
X
60
minutes in an hour
=
4320
minutes in three days
X
60
seconds in a minute
=
259,200
seconds in three days
/
70,000
total people killed
=
3.7
number of seconds to kill one person
/
60
number of seconds in each minute
=
16.2
number of people killed each minute
X
60
number of seconds in each hour
=
972
number of people killed each hour
X
24
number of hours in a day
=
23,328
number of people killed each day.
X
3
number of days
=
69,984
number of people killed in three days.
Now calculate how
many people 78,000 angels could kill in three days.
69,984 X 78,000 =
5,458,752,000 = the approximate population of the earth at that time.
So it is either that Christ will die for the sins of the entire world, or the entire world will be killed.
