Victory in Jesus

I Cor. 15:57

There is much despair in the world because the end of our lives is death, we will leave every thing we have worked for and everything we have tried to do.  The lost live and face the same things in their lives we face in our lives, yet they do not have Jesus.  They don’t understand why we need Jesus (a crutch, they say), they are getting along just fine without Him.  They just don’t know, just like we didn’t know.

Probably the things we all don’t look forward to is death, (it’s the separation from our loved ones, from everything we know – this earth) but in death, God has given us great victory.

I.        Lost will be saved.

A.     There is no hope for any person outside of Jesus Christ.

1.       Romans 3:10 – All are lost, condemned to an eternal hell without Christ.

2.       Ps. 14:1 – The Lord looked down upon mankind and saw all are condemned.

B.     Romans 7:6 – The carnal mind is enmity against God.

1.       Ephesians 2:1-3 – Describes the condition of fallen before he is saved.

2.       Eph. 2:8,9 – We are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.

II.     Saved will be faithful.

A.     The saved have victory in death.

1.       The “final” separation is not final for us.

2.       I Thess 4:13-18 – describes our victory when loved ones die, we know they are going to be with Jesus, and we shall go to be with Jesus one of these days.

3.       Isaiah 25:8 - He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

4.       See also our text – I Cor. 15:54,55 – Death is swallowed up in victory.

B.     After we are saved, we find we are not faithful to God.

1.       Romans 7:15-21 – What we don’t want to do, we do, and what we want to do, we don’t.

2.       Romans 12:1,2 – We are to present our bodies a living sacrifice unto God and He will bless and keep us and make us able to be faithful to Him.

3.       Eph. 3:14-21 – God is able to give us power to comprehend all things, and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge.

C.     We can be faithful in life.

1.       Matthew 6:33 – If we leave our earthly cares to God and His will for us, and concentrate on doing everything He wants us to do, He will provide everything we need in this life.

2.       He will teach us how to spend our money, and how not to spend it, so we will have something left over.  He will teach us not to trust our money, but to trust the One who gives us everything.

III.       In eternity, we will praise Jesus for all He has done for us.

  1. I John 3:1-2 – We are now the children of God, and it doesn’t appear what we shall be.
  2. Rev. 4:1-11 – The scene in heaven before the tribulation period where God receives all power, glory and honor.

1.       Rev. 4:6 compared to Rev. 15:2 – the sea of glass contains the people who have had victory over the beast during the tribulation period, and they praise God eternally.

2.       Eph. 2:7 – We will spend eternity learning more and more about Christ.
