Changes in this world

Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Many things are different in the “modern” age in which we live:

Some are good and some are bad:

Conveniences

Automobiles

Homes

Food

Finances

Electricity

Medical

Entertainment

Many sins are being accepted as normal, even pushed upon us, as alternative life styles.

There is a real breakdown in the home:

Marriage ends in divorce 50% of the time, and it seems believers are not different in this than unbelievers.

Many couples are simply living together without being married, and this is accepted as normal.

Many couples openly engage in sexual activity, and is openly portrayed on television in movies.

All these sinful things are not called sin any more, therefore:

Abortion is said to be the privacy rights of women.

Homosexuality, which the Bible refers to as sodomy, is called “gay”, and is being forced upon the society of the world.

Many believe the government’s job is to provide cradle to grave comforts of life and to protect us from personal failure.

There is a real breakdown of every society as evil continues to grow at alarming rates, and there is seemingly little the average person can do about it.

God is still the same:

  1. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

  2. Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

  3. Hebrews 1:12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Sin is still the same:

  1. Ephesians 2:1-3 - And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

  2. James 1:13-16 – Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

  3. People still need us to tell the gospel. Some may be longing to hear what we have to say. God has put that in them.

Death is the same: Men may have dressed up death in “acceptable garments”, but it is still the same – the spirit and soul are separated from the body and people enter into eternity.

  1. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

  2. Death comes to all: the insured and the uninsured; the poor and the wealthy; the healthy and the sick; the educated and the uneducated; the young and the old; those prepared and those unprepared.

The mercy of God in bringing salvation to unworthy sinners is still the same:

  1. Ephesians 2:4-7 - But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

  2. Mark 10:21 – Jesus loved the rich young ruler. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Salvation is still the same:

  1. II Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

  2. Ephesians 2:8-10 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Eternity is the same:
