Exodus 19:4

Eagles wings speaks of a force outside ourselves which moves upon us, bringing us to the place where God determines we should be, as God is bringing us to himself. He will not leave us alone but will continually work in various circumstances to bring about his complete will to us. It is our place in these matters to make sure we are obedient to the clear commands of God. Many people today do not want to be obedient; rather to do their own thing before a most holy God, expecting him to yield his eternal will to their weak and sickly temporary inclinations.

Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

It must be noted that God brought Israel to himself, not just to the land of Canaan. This is what God has done for us – he determines to bring us to himself, not just to riches, glory, honor, or a good time. He determines not just to save us from hell, but to save us to himself that we might to be him a people of good honor, glory and praise to his name for all eternity.

Deuteronomy 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

The context explains God’s part in bringing Israel to himself and Israel’s part in going away from God.

Notice the context of this passage to understand how God put his hand on Israel and brought them to a high place, but Jeshurun (a symbolic name for Israel describing her ideal character) rebelled, therefore God changed his mind toward them and they now face the judgments of God.

Proverbs 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

This passage speaks of a determinant law that riches go away much easier than they stay. Riches take wings as an eagle and fly away to heaven – to a place where we cannot go of ourselves, but need some external power to take us there. Riches go to a place where we cannot reach. Our arms will not extend that high. We are powerless to retain riches, as they continually seek to leave our grasp.

God gives us this material truth so we can understand the spiritual truth. Money is harder to get, but easy to spend, then it is gone forever. It is a material truth that money goes fast, and never returns. There is a "force" that drives money from us, just as there is a force that moves us in this life toward God and his eternal holiness.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

This most popular passage, which speaks of the power given to believers who continually trust in the Lord for all their needs and wants. There is no weariness in the Christian life, if we live that life with the power of God. We will burnout quickly, however, if we try to live that Christian life based on our own strength and power. We will be able to go further than we could ever go if we will only trust in the power, strength and agility of God to get us there. As long as we trust in our own strength, power, imagination, or abilities, we will surely fail, because we do not have the necessary strength to go where God wants us to go.

Jeremiah 48:40 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

Jeremiah 49:22 Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

Ezekiel 17:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of feathers, which had divers colours, came unto Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar:

Ezekiel 17:7 There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation.

Daniel 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
