  1. Luke 11:1-13 – Importunity praying
  2. Luke 11:9,10 – If we ask, seek and knock, it shall be given to us.
  3. Matthew 15:21-28 – healing the woman’s child that is a dog.
  4. Luke 18:1-8 – The widow and the unjust judge.
  5. James 5:16-18 – The effectual fervent man prayed seven times.
  6. James 4:2 – Ye have not because ye ask not.

The reason we don’t pray as we ought is because we believe we can handle it.

We don’t pray because we don’t realize how desperate the situation really is. We try to forget how desperate the situation is. We get busy without other things and our minds don’t’ continue thinking about those things we ought to be praying about.

We don’t pray, expecting God to answer because we do not really realize the joy we can have when we know God has answered our prayers.

  • Acts 4:23-37 – The church praying to be strengthened, not for persecution to go away. These people were keenly aware that God must do something.
  • NOTE: Pray for strength against error – whether in or out of the church.
  • Chapter 4:32-33 – received great strength against outward oppression.
  • Chapter 5:10-11 – Received great strength against inner oppression.
