I. A call to life.
A. Job 14:1,2 - "Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and
full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth
also as a shadow, and continueth not."
B. Note the many changes that take place in the human body as it grows
older.
II. A call to salvation.
A. Luke 16:29-31 - Must hear preachers today.
B. John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life."
C. Acts 17:31-34 - Three types of believers.
1. Mockers.
2. Curious.
3. Believers.
D. Acts 24:24-26 - "And after certain days, when Felix came with
his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him
concerning the faith in Christ. And as he reasoned of righteousness,
temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way
for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. He
hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might
loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with
him."
III. A call to service. (There are some wicked people who don’t serve God
at all.)
A. John 19:38 - Joseph of Arimathaea - "And after this Joseph of
Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews,
besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave
him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus."
B. Acts 26:16 - Paul was open in his service to God. "But rise,
and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to
make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast
seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;"
IV. A call to death.
A. Job 14:14,15 - "If a man die, shall he live again? all the
days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. Thou shalt call,
and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine
hands."
B. Hebrews 9:35 - "And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment:"
V. A call to judgment.
A. II Corinthians 5:10 - "For we must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his
body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
B. We can’t blame anybody else for our sins. God will judge what we
have done, regardless of why we did it.
