II Corinthians 11:14-15 - And no marvel; for Satan himself
is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no
great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of
righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
I. Salvation of the feelings.
A. Does Satan give a false salvation? Yes.
1. Paul – Phil. 3:4-8 – Paul said if anybody could have confidence
in the flesh, he could, and named the accomplishments of his flesh.
2. Pharisees – John 8:30-39 – They had many accomplishments in the
flesh, and depended on those accomplishments that they were children ofGod.
3. Judas – was just like the Pharisees, depending on his
accomplishements, but they weren’t enough. People around Judas thought
he was okay. He was the treasurer of the first church and people so
trusted him, there is no record of his ever give account of the funds he
spent. When he betrayed Christ, the other apostles thought he was going
out to give something to the poor.
4. Many people today.
a. Sometimes letting others know they are lost gives relief and the
Devil calls it salvation, and the person is fooled. Mike Hires told his
brother he was lost and got relief and thought that relief was
salvation.
b. People going to the front of the church building during the
invitation.
c. People being baptized.
d. People doing good works, especially in the church.
e. People having done all they can do.
f. People trusting in their trusting, or believing in their
believing.
B. Satan’s salvation does not include:
1. A knowledge of the real character of man (original sin).
a. Eph. 2:1 reveals that each sinner is dead in trespasses and sins.
b. Romans 8:7 teaches that the carnal mind is at enmity (opposed) to
God and cannot understand heavenly things.
c. A knowing of the sins we commit, but no knowledge of a person being
a sinner.
1.) It is always good to confess individual sins to God, asking his
forgiveness.
2.) 1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
3.) Note: we confess our individual sins.
4.) Confessing our individual sins will reveal to us that we are
sinners.
d. A preacher once told me to never preach people into hell, or that
they were a sinner. That is negative. Besides, they already know that.
Preach positive – preach how Jesus can save the sinner.
2. Repenting of being a sinner, and trusting what Christ has done on
the cross of Calvary.
a. A knowledge of the facts of the gospel does not mean a person is
saved.
b. The Old Testament saints were saved without knowing the facts of
the gospel.
c. The apostles were saved without knowing or understanding the facts
of the gospel.
C. Satan’s salvation and sin.
1. Satan’s salvation includes no repentance from being a
sinner, or of individual sins.
2. Includes a feeling that is good.
3. Includes trusting in anything except Christ.
4. Includes trusting the sinners prayer, or good works, a time that is
remembered, or anything else.
5. Satan leads people to repent of particular sins, but not of being
a sinner.
6. Matthew 27:3-10 – The result of Judas’s repenting of a
particular sin, but not repenting of being a sinner. His individual
sins did not show him he was a sinner. He killed himself.
II. True Salvation –
A. Romans 10:13 – Whosoever calls shall be saved. – Verse 8, the word
of faith – verse 9 confessing with the mouth because there is belief in
the heart.
1. I called many times before I was saved.
2. Reason? – must believe before you call. The calling doesn’t
save, believing does.
B. Examples of people calling because they already believed. In each
case, they (1) had sin and couldn’t do anything about it. (2) Knew that
Jesus could, and (3) ask for help, or called on the name of the Lord.
1. Matthew 15:21-28 – Jesus healed the daughter of the women who
agreed that it wasn’t right to cast the bread of the children to the
dogs.
2. Mark 1:40 – The leper came, kneeling before Jesus and declaring, "…If
thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." Do you see the believing,
that causes the action of calling?
3. Luke 17:12-14 – These lepers were cleansed when they obeyed what
Jesus told them.
