I. A call to
life. (Physical life)
A. Job 14:1,2 - Man
that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth
like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth
not.
B. Note the many
changes that take place in the human body as it grows older.
II. A call to
salvation. (Spiritual life)
Romans 1:18-20 -
Every person is born with the knowledge that there is a God and with the
desire to worship that God. Only a fool (educated into believing) would say
there is no god, Psalms 14:1.
Luke 16:29-31 -
Must hear preachers today.
John 3:16 - For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
D. Acts 17:31-34
- Three types of believers.
Mockers.
Curious.
Believers.
E. Acts 24:24-26
- And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which
was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in
Christ. And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to
come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a
convenient season, I will call for thee. He hoped also that money should
have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for
him the oftener, and communed with him.
III. A call to
service. (There are some wicked people who don't serve God at all.)
A. Lost
people will refuse to serve God, but this doesn’t mean that they aren’t
responsible for serving Him.
B. Secret
disciples - John 19:38 - Joseph of Arimathaea - And after this Joseph
of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews,
besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave
him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. Joseph changed
from a secret disciple to a public disciple when he asked for the body of
Christ.
Inbetween
disciples – Some want to have one foot in the world, and one foot in
"religion".
Public disciples
- Acts 26:16 - Paul was open in his service to God. But rise, and stand
upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee
a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of
those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
Where do we
serve God.
In His kind of
churches.
A church is
always an assembly, never a non-assembly!
We all need
fellowship with real people.
It is never
enough to listen to the radio, or to tapes.
Matt. 16:18 -
Jesus said He would build His church, and the gates of hell would not
prevail against it.
There are many
different kinds of churches in this world today, but there is only one
kind that pleases God.
How does a
person join the church of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Let the Holy
Spirit led you as you study the Word of God.
Find a
church that teaches that Jesus is their founder.
Accept the
kind of baptism they offer, which will be immersion with the authority
of Jesus Christ, in that local church.
Be faithful
in attending and associating with the church members, while continuing
to read and study your Bible, learning more and more about God’s
holiness.
Be a witness
to others about God’s blessings in your life.
Teach others
to live according to God’s Word.
IV. A call to
death. Everybody dies. The rich and the poor – Luke 16. The famous and
the not famous. Men and women. Boys and girls, even babies die. Those with
medical insurance and those without medical insurance. Mention some famous
people who have recently died.
A. Job 14:14,15
- If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time
will I wait, till my change come. Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee:
thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
Heb. 9:35 - And
as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
II Tim. 4:7 -
Paul stated that he had fought a good fight, he had run a good race,
therefore, there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous judge would give not only to him, but to all them that
love his appearing.
V. A call to
judgment.
A. II Cor. 5:10 - For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether
it be good or bad.
We can't blame
anybody else for our sins. God will judge what we have done, regardless of why
we did it.
I Peter 4:17 - For
the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first
begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18
And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner
appear?
I Cor. 3:11-15
states that some of the saved will be saved yet so as by fire. All of their
works are build upon the things of this world, and God’s fiery eyes of
condemnation will burn them all up, but their souls will be saved. They will
go to heaven but have no rewards at all.
Rev. 20:11-15 -
The lost will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment.
Every lost
person will be there, regardless of what happened to their body after they
died.
All of their
works will be destroyed by the judgment of God because no lost man can do
anything that is good before God.
Not only will
all of their works be destroyed, their eternal souls will be cast into the
Lake of Fire to burn forever in God’s condemnation.
