The Relevancy of God

Rev. 5:5,6 – The lion of Judah, the Lamb of God

Introduction.

We are living in a time when many people completely disregard God. They live their lives without him, except at Christmas, Easter, deaths, and weddings, and sometimes births.

Deut 32: 31 - There are many different kinds of gods and there are many different kinds of rocks. For their rock [is] not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves [being] judges.

Psalms 115:1-11

(Compare to Isaiah 46:6)

1. Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, [and] for thy truth's sake.

2. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where [is] now their God?

3. But our God [is] in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

4. Their idols [are] silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

5. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

6. They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

7. They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

8. They that make them are like unto them; [so is] every one that trusteth in them.

9. O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he [is] their help and their shield.

10. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he [is] their help and their shield.

11. Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he [is] their help and their shield.

I. To the lost.

A. God is creator.

1. This is the one way the lost can recognize God and worship him.

2. If the lost don’t see God (Christ) as the creator, they will never see him as the Savior.

B. Scriptures:

1. John 1:3 – "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."

2. Col. 1:16 – "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:"

C. Men have devised their theory of evolution, which does nothing but try to remove God off his throne.

1. Satan knows if he can get God off the throne of creation, he will soon be removed from all the other thrones.

2. Until a person realizes they are created by God and God has a purpose for their living, they have no need to trust God for salvation, for there won’t be a salvation.

3. There will not be an understanding of how God created the world altogether right, and sin entered the world through disobedience and brought sin, wickedness, and finally death, and eternal damnation.

II. God can help you now.

A. Christ can help.

1. Heb. 4:12-16 – "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

2. Matthew 4:24 – Jesus healed all who asked to be healed.

3. Matthew 12:14,15 – "Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. 15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;"

4. Jesus ate with sinners – Mark 2:16,17 – "And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? 17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

B. God is to be worshipped and served because of all the blessings he has given us.

1. John 4:24 – God is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth.

2. Eph. 3:21 – God is to be worshipped in the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

III. Jesus is coming to take his children home.

A. God is the soon coming king.

1. He is coming as King of kings and Lord of lords. I Timothy 6:15,16 – "…is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."

2. He will rule with a rod of iron.

a. Prophesied in Psalms 2:9, fulfilled in Rev. 19:15.

b. Rev. 19:15 – "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."

B. He is coming as the judge of all.

1. Acts 10:42 – "And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead."

2. II Tim. 4:1 – "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;"
