The book of I Peter is five short chapter from a fisherman.  Peter writes, not from an educated viewpoint, but from the practical viewpoint and burdens that come from a life time of learning, applying and living the Word of God.

I love this book, but especially chapter five.  In my early ministry, I was trying to find what God demanded of me as a pastor of one of his churches.  Chapter five helped me tremendously, as this chapter is written especially to pastors.  I know church members can be helped much as they read and apply chapter five, but this chapter has special meaning to God's pastors.  This chapter explains what the relationship between pastors should be.  No pastor is over another pastor.  Age makes one respected if the aged one has been faithful, but the young pastor is equal to the aged pastor.  All are accountable to God alone.  There is no hierarchy in Christ, and there should be no hierarchy in the churches of the living God.  God has called me to pastor Independence Baptist Church.  This is where I work because this is where God has placed me.  This work is important.  God has called and placed other men in other churches.  That is where they work.  That work is important because God is in it.  I cannot judge another pastor or another church.  God is there judge, and mine.  May God help us all to be faithful to HIM, not to things, devices, plans, programs, associations, boards, conventions, or whatever.  Jesus Christ is our Saviour, our Lord, or Master, our KINGNOTHING should come before Christ.
