(How Jesus Christ Dealt With Saved Church Members {Leaders}To Teach Them

1.   Self-sufficiency - Luke 9:10 - All they had done.

John 15:5 - Without me, ye can do nothing.

2.   Hopelessness - Luke 9:12,13 - They couldn't feed the 5,000 yet had just cast out devils and such (verse 1 & 10).  They, like us, are very forgetful.

3.   Powerlessness - Luke 9:37-40 - Yet, less than 8 days earlier, they could (verse 1 & 10).  But now they had "run out of the Word of God".  They were un-believing disciples.  If they had studied and learned the Bible {the true meaning of God's Word}, they would have had faith, then they would have had power.

4.   Pride - Luke 9:46 - They begin to quarrel about who would be the greatest.

Proverbs 6:16,17 - God hates a proud look.

Phil. 2:3 - Others are better than we are.  We need to live it.

5.   Spirit of Revenge - Luke 9:51-54 - Vengeance is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.  Note that one of these men is John (the beloved disciple), the other is James (the pastor of the first church in Jerusalem).

6.   A Compassionless Spirit - Luke 9:54-56 - They didn't mind seeing these folks go to hell.

Luke 23:34 - Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, they know not what they do."
