God’s Shepherds

Luke 2:8 - And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

Why did the angels appear to the angels and not to everybody else?

Because they were special shepherds – They were the shepherds who were taking care of the sacrificial lambs.  The angels appeared to them because they needed to know and understand that the LAMB had been born.  There would be no more need of any sacrificial lambs.  When the shepherds came to see the child, he was laying in a manager, where the sacrificial lambs ate their food.  What a picture of the Son of God!  He would take away the sins of the world.
